Food Packaging for Confectionery
Client: Erka FoodsServices: Packaging Design
Client Problem and Solution
For this packaging design, our client needed a solution that was an alternate look from its competitors. Worked closely with our client to capture a nostalgic and retro-inspired look that draws on the classic visual language of traditional sweets and confectionery packaging. The bold, playful typography, vintage colours and simplified layout were carefully selected to reflect old school confectionery that appealed to various ages.
When it comes to packaging design, we understand the importance of having a strong shelf presence to stand out from competitors. Effective food packaging design not only attracts attention on crowded shelves but also communicates essential details such as nutritional information, ingredients, and branding. It plays an imperative role in the success of a food product.
Our Design Process
There are various elements that come together to form a good design when it comes to packaging. From the typography, colour and imagery to the hierarchy and format of all the elements which create the right balance visually. We believe the best design practice is knowing when to strip back what’s unnecessary and that’s what communicates that clear message to the consumer and creates a successful design.
We work with various clients within the food and manufacturing industry and have good knowledge and experience in creating numerous packaging and label designs for different brands, whilst also designing packaging that caters to specific packaging regulations that may be required for country specific rules and regulations.
Clear Brand Positioning
Brand Identity
Design plays a crucial role in communicating the brand’s identity and values in a packaging design. Consistency with the brand’s visual language, including logo, colours, fonts, and imagery, helps reinforce brand recognition and establish a strong brand presence on the shelf.
Product Difference
Packaging should differentiate from competitors and attract the attention of target markets. Unique design elements, such as distinctive graphics, patterns, or illustrations, can help the product stand out and create a memorable impression.
Visual Hierarchy
Effective packaging design establishes a clear visual hierarchy that guides the viewer’s eye through the packaging and highlights key information such as the product name, features, and benefits. Strategic placement of elements and typography hierarchy aid in communicating information effectively.
Product Selling Points
The packaging design should communicate the product’s attributes, benefits, and usage instructions clearly. Iconography, symbols, and illustrations can be used to convey complex ideas or highlight specific product features.

FAQs for Packaging Design Services
What does your packaging design process look like?
We begin with a chat to understand your brand, product, and goals. From there, we work closely with you, creating initial ideas, refining visuals, and finally delivering the final solution.
What information do you need from me?
We’ll ask for basic product details, any current brand assets (logo, fonts, colour palette), any regulatory label requirements once the design is finalised. The more detail you give us, the smoother and faster the design process becomes.
How much does packaging design cost?
Yes this is the question everybody asks, however costs vary depending on the complexity of your project, the packaging format (label, box, pouch, etc.), the detail required and how many design revisions are needed. Once we know what you’re after, we can provide a clear, no-obligation quote.
What types of packaging design do you offer?
We offer a full range of services: wholesale packaging, label design, retail packaging, cosmetics or non-food products, and point-of-sale packaging or POS displays. Whether you need a simple label or a complete bespoke design, we’ve got you covered.
How long does a typical packaging design project take?
That depends on the scope; a simple label design, we may be able to get some initial visuals to you in a week or two, while a full brand package might take longer. Once we know your requirements, we’ll give you an idea along with your quote.
