Getting to know our designer Fiona
Where do you get your inspiration for your work?
I keep up with what work the design industry is doing and talking about, but most of the time the inspiration comes from what’s around me. My first point of call for a packaging project for instance would be a trip to the supermarket and Pinterest is also very useful.
What made you want to go into design?
When I realised design was more than making things. Design is all about problem solving, communication and ideas. It’s exciting and every day can be different.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned since joining Scene?
I’ve learnt a lot since becoming a part of Scene and still continuing to all the time. I’d say the biggest thing I’ve learnt is the importance of client communication and time management, sounds a bit of a boring answer but it’s true. When you are at your busiest and clients are waiting, you need to be on the ball and responsive.
Do you have a favourite project you’ve worked on this year?
I’ve worked on a lot of great projects this year which I can thank our clients for. I love working on packaging projects and I had the opportunity to work with the ‘Dewhurst the Master Butcher’ brand earlier this year.
I’ve also enjoyed getting into more 3D projects, particularly for Pasco Foods which I created a series of images for their Chutneys, Pastes, Sauces and Pickles to be used for promotional purposes.
